We used Bluehost to host all our non-ecommerce websites because they have a very low-overhead, low-maintenance setup for every single one of their hosting plans. For the less important websites in our portfolio, that is a very important aspect that we consider before choosing a hosting provider, right behind pricing, security and speed.
  • Quick setup.
  • Affordability.
  • Access to customer service.
  • Website speed.
  • Pricing plan flexibility.
  • Support not as fast nor as knowledgeable as other hosting providers.
For a budget hosting provider, they are definitely in the top tier and should always be considered. For this tier of hosting providers, it really comes down to whose pricing plans are structured in a way that suits you most. Some price themselves better for single sites, some for 2-5, and some for 6+ on the same plan. That's the major difference.
  • Customer support is good enough so that we don't need IT people on retainer.
  • Very affordable for low-volume websites.
  • Easy to launch new sites quickly thanks to 1-click WordPress installs and SSLs.
Bluehost is somewhat similar in terms of their tech stack and somewhat similar in terms of pricing. I think for websites that want to remain small and operate on the lowest budget possible, Bluehost is sufficient. For websites that are interested in scaling, or need top-tier, USA-based tech support 24/7 at their fingertips, then other hosting providers may be better.
They are quick, easily reached, and can usually solve problems on the first try. However I noticed I had to go to customer support more often than with other providers, whether that was things breaking more often or if their customer support couldn't fix things on the first try. But in most scenarios, they are fine.

We hold an annual education conference and use Bluehost (and their tools) for creating, maintaining, and hosting our site. Their "all in one" approach lets us set up a custom domain, build the website, and track visitors. Being able to manage everything from one place has simplified the entire conference experience for the people who manage the event.
  • Customer service/tech support is simply top-notch. Being able to pick up the phone, get help, and not get charged for it is rare in the tech-support world.
  • Their Dashboard/C-panel has a wide selection of popular tools and options to make website design and all that goes with it very easy. Lots of choices; they are more than a simple hosting service.
  • Keeping their tools up-to-date. I never have to worry about upgrades or having the latest features; it just happens automatically!
  • Although their upgrades are generally awesome, when the GUI changes, it can be a challenge to find what you are looking for (i.e. "where did that go?").
  • It might be nice to have a "simplified" view for new users; the number of options can be overwhelming for someone not familiar with web development/hosting.
Bluehost is well suited for a person or organization looking for an all-in-one solution for having a web presence. Both new and experienced users can take advantage of their tools at a very reasonable investment of time and money. They are dependable regarding "uptime" and provide first-rate customer service and tech support. Trying to cobble together all that they offer from separate vendors would be a tremendous waste of effort; Bluehost has it all!
  • Because of their level of service and support, we were able to create our web presence in-house without the need to hire an external firm or consultant. Consequently, Bluehost has more than paid for itself.
  • The efficiency of the all-in-one solution means our web person doesn't have to spend time logging into different sites and managing different accounts, and the business office only has to pay one vendor.
Bluehost is more expensive, but they offer a more complete set of tools and seem far better equipped to handle WordPress sites. We wanted the ability to grow our site if necessary and felt Bluehost offered more potential than GoDaddy for long-term support.
It is so nice to be able to get free phone support; not that common these days! When we do call, they are usually able to resolve the issues within a few minutes.

We currently use Bluehost as our playground for web development and small projects. Bluehost is really quick and simple to set up Wordpress instances, DNS and has a reliant Cpanel. New Users can frequently get good deals or free domains for a year on their first signup and they have decent support, better than the competitors at similar price points.
  • The SSL is included in the hosting.
  • Price Point is great for small projects.
  • Bluehost has 24/7 support online and the techs that are knowledgable, unlike GoDaddy.
  • Simplistic hosting might not be good if you have high volumes of traffic.
  • Phone support could be better.
Bluehost is easy to use and much more affordable than other hosting platforms. I also love that if I ever have trouble with something the customer service is available on an instant chat and have always been able to help me get my problem resolved. Bluehost is great for small businesses just getting started or experimenting with web hosting on your own.
  • Web hosting is reliable with 0 downtimes so far for minor sites. They also keep up to date on PHP versions so they aren't bogged down.
GoDaddy & Network Solutions are both priced similarly. I recommend Bluehost over both of these because of its support and upgrade cycles. NS hasn't been updated in what seems like a decade. GoDaddy, on top of its shady advertising and predatory behavior, has terrible support.
The tech support is the main reason I recommend BH over the other two options. 24/7 Email support and the chat client are both great options and the staff was knowledgable.

BlueHost is a well-known web host widely awarded on many review sites and by industry insiders as a top choice for web hosting, although it typically is not our first choice. Bluehost currently hosts over 2 million websites globally and provides a wide variety of web server hardware options running primarily on a custom software stack based on cPanel & CentOS. Internally, Bluehost uses OpenStack & KVM virtualization for data center networking at scale. Many web designers and developers prefer Bluehost because of their strong dedication to the open source community. Bluehost is a decent choice for WordPress because of its Optimized Hosting for WordPress (OHWP) platform. Bluehost also provides various options for Shared, Cloud, VPS, and Dedicated web hosting plans for their customers.
  • Heavy focus on WordPress, with WordPress installed by default on all new accounts.
  • Custom-branded cPanel with all of the industry standard features.
  • Affordable cloud hosting with solid performance/reliability.
  • Optimized plans specifically for WordPress and WooCommerce.
  • Free & paid integrated SSL certificates for eCommerce websites.
  • Personal & direct customer phone support based in the US.
  • Numerous add-ons available, such as G Suite, Spam Experts, SiteLock, etc.
  • The basic hosting plan only allows you to host 1 website.
  • Charges $149 for migrating your existing website over to them.
  • No pro-rated refund after 30 days.
Bluehost is a decent all-around choice for web hosting with professional web development and domain management features that are particularly ideal for WordPress websites and blogs. They have a good reputation within the industry as a company that invests heavily in new technology and platform innovation. Bluehost has made a lot of improvements to customize their back-end administration (AMP & control panel) by working to improve the usability and design of the browser interface. Bluehost is primarily focused on customers who use WordPress and we would recommend either their hybrid cloud or managed WordPress platform, which provides everything that you need to build and maintain a popular website. All in all, Bluehost is a well-established brand that continually improves its hosting products, regularly upgrades their data center hardware, and is generally considered a leader in the development of new cloud hosting platform services.
  • Account creation is extremely fast – anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes (case by case of course).
  • cPanel + CentOS is an industry standard for a web server and domain administration, making it easy to manage settings for web development.
  • All shared plans come with SSDs in a RAID 10 configuration.

Bluehost is the Best

I use Bluehost, currently, for all of my own personal projects as well as hosting for other people. The use of the Bluehost service allows me to provide an all-inclusive solution for all of my needs as well as others. I use it for hosting, e-mail, file serving, and even hosting apps and services built on different languages and frameworks.
  • Bluehost has outstanding support.
  • Bluehost's e-mail service has always been top notch. The e-mail services and software that are provided are easy to configure, easy to implement.
  • Bluehost has some inconsistencies in their billing practices. I would appreciate a bit more transparency into their billing process, and billing representatives being advocates instead of customer service representatives.
  • Bluehost's functionality for delivering Ruby on Rails apps is sometimes confusing and difficult to implement.
  • Bluehost's support for NodeJS needs some serious improvement.
  • Bluehost does not make it easy for devops to make config changes to Apache.
Bluehost is an ideal solution for a user who has slightly more than minimal amount of devops knowledge. Particularly if you are looking to deploy LAMP stack applications or elementary Ruby on Rails apps, Bluehost is an ideal platform. Overall, hosting domains is effortless on Bluehost, and they make that incredibly easy for their users.
  • Bluehost has dramatically reduced the time it takes to deploy sites and services. This means that there is zero cost between development and deployment.
  • Bluehost has made it difficult to move my sites and services off of their platform, as their domain registry services are missing some significant features. This increases the overall cost when/if a migration occurs.
  • Bluehost's e-mail services are an incredible asset to all of the products deployed. Huge ROI.
Bluehost's VPS offering gives me full control over my container which I don't get with DreamHost. The size of the container is much more desirable for hosting multiple products, over and above DigitalOcean, and the control panel for Bluehost is far more intuitive than AWS'.
